Fillings, Inlays, Crowns – Preserving Your Teeth
is Our Priority
Maintaining and preserving your own teeth is of paramount importance to us – nothing is better than what nature provided you with. In order to preserve your natural teeth, we can perform a number of services depending on the size of the defect:
Fillings can be used to treat small defects in the frontal and side teeth. They are very gentle. To apply a filling – a process that is called bonding because the filling is bonded to the teeth – the tooth's surface is covered with a special liquid. Next, a plastic, tooth-colored material (composite) is inserted into the tooth. The material is hardened by use of an UV-lamp.
For larger defects and prolonged durability, an inlay should be considered. First, the tooth is prepared in a special way to receive the inlay. Next, an impression is taken of the designated area in your mouth with a highly precise material. Using this impression as a model, dental technicians in a dental laboratory will then make the inlay from gold or ceramics. It will be fitted into your mouth during a second appointment.
If the remaining substance of your tooth cannot provide enough stability, a crown can support it. This also requires taking an impression. The crown is then made in the dental laboratory. Regardless of whether you require a full or a partial crown, we will discuss all the details with you and make a joint decision together on whether a fused ceramic-metal or a full ceramic crown is better suited to your particular needs. Together, we will carefully examine the different options and cost factors to make an informed decision.
